a safe, fun, and delicious christmas eve! for those who don't know - t-man has egg and nut food allergies. we keep our house egg and nut free. it is just easier - i don't have to worry about him getting into anything that could set off a reaction. he's still so young that he is unable to effectively communicate what is wrong if he did start to react to something. but an egg and nut free environment is not realistic of the world outside of our home and so travelling can be stressful. the kids end up eating alot of mcdonalds (ugh) because we know what is safe on the menu.
anyway my parents, sister, and brother-in-law were amazing. my sister went to a health food store and found egg replacer to make "safe" christmas cookies, my mom made her famous pumpkin bread with egg replacer so that t-man could enjoy it, my parents put their peanut butter on a high shelf in the garage along with other items that could be contaminated (jellies, etc.) and bought a new jar of jelly for the kids' breakfast, and my brother-in-law went to multiple stores to find bread for christmas eve fondue that was egg free and was not processed in a facility with eggs or nuts. they did alot to accommodate us and i can't thank them enough - you guys are the best - you went above and beyond the call of family duty!
and to top it off - christmas eve was great. went to a children's mass- which was long, but entertained the kids (who entertained us - baby k kept pointing to the priest with the white beard and kept saying "santa"). then back at my sister's, we had a great xmas meal while the kids played with my 2 yr. old nephew and cody, the dog. i couldn't have asked for a better christmas eve...
