Stitch 'n Bi#$h

I finished! Here is baby k modeling my first completed knitting project ever!!! sadly, this simple little ribbed scarf is 2 years in the making.

a little background:

a few years ago, brigita taught me how to knit one day while we watching a ND game. at the time, i was taking the train into downtown boston everyday for work - and so i started knitting during my commute. i started with a blanket. after a month, i realized it was going to take me FOREVER to finish and the blanket already had enough mistakes in it to fail QC, so i called an audible and decided to make a ribbed scarf for my 4 year old niece. orange was her favorite color at the time. well a few months later, baby k was born - i went on maternity leave, returned to work, switched offices to a western suburb of boston (no more train rides), was busy chasing around 2 kids under the age of 2, blah, blah, blah. in other words, i hadn't picked up my knitting needles in a loooooooong time. but after moving out to california, i played around with the idea of starting up a stitch 'n bitch. i mentioned it one night over drinks with a few of the girls i know in the area and voila! - we started meeting weekly. with the holidays it's been hard, but it has forced me to set aside some time to work on this scarf. just finished it last night while enjoying a sammy with the girls and then i packed it up today and shipped it off to my now 6 year old niece. i don't think orange is her favorite color anymore, but hopefully she'll find it in her heart to wear it once for me with some sassy outfit. now onto my next project - what shall i make?????
