it's that time time of year again - it's friday and it's lent. it was during my time at ND that i truly learned to appreciate the combination of a grilled cheese sandwich dipped in tomato soup. actually you didn't have many options at the dining hall on fridays during lent. there was tuna fish, an attempt at fish (in the middle of indiana in a dining hall????), salad, grilled cheese, and tomato soup. the tomato soup was a necessary accompaniment to the rubbery grilled cheese in order to soften up the bread and make it chewable.
now that i'm a little older and a little more refined, i think i'll go a little more high brow. i'm craving a buttery grilled cheese tonight with fresh wheat bread and this yummy organic roasted red pepper and tomato soup i discovered at whole foods (and they carry at costco!) baby k is a fan too (i have a feeling she'll put her nose up if she ever finds herself at ND's dining hall during lent).
