Luck of the irish

Happy St. Patty's Day everyone! I'm missing Boston big time right now - would love to be in line at the Black Rose... at least i can say that this weekend wasn't such a bad weekend for me to be living in CA.

a little background: grandma and grandpa h are visiting off and on for 3 weeks (which is also why my posting has been a bit sporadic lately). they flew into san fran 2 weeks ago - hit napa and sonoma, made it down to the central valley for baby k's 2nd birthday party, went to yosemite last week, and are off to monterey and the central coast today. they'll be back at the end of the week to celebrate easter with us and say goodbye.

so with the grandparents in town to watch 2 beautiful, intelligent, charming kids, - 4 friends eagerly left a small farming town outside of fresno behind them for a weekend getaway in carmel.

They were looking forward to the bathroom stop, the scenic route, the fresh smell of eucalyptus after a spring rain, the fine white beach sand, walking everywhere, the candy shop, Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo, and basically reentering civilization.

Little did they know what else awaited them – Tommy’s great Chinese food, one broken gingerbread man cookie, a working fountain at the mission, singing sharks, a geriatric flirt, a window seat for dinner, a false lunch reservation and still the $9.25 fee for the 17 mile drive, and the house of all houses.

Thanks P and D for a GREAT weekend - we'll miss you guys!!!
